Description:

Raising Capital: Identifying Alternatives to the Funding Challenge
Description:
This panel will explore the process of raising capital in the Caribbean. Topics range from issuing public equity and debt to attracting private equity and venture capital. The panel will cover both raising capital from regional sources and international lending organizations. It will also explore the impact of the new junior stock exchange, the development of a credit reporting agency, and the impact that newly issued government debt will have on the business context.

Description:
This panel will address the lessons learned from the financial crisis, with a focus on macroeconomic industry diversification in the Caribbean. It will explore how the Caribbean can create leverage its competitive advantages outside of the traditional tourism sector, by taking advantages of new opportunities in Information Technology, Green Energy, Medical Tourism, and Telecommunication. The panel will discuss wider industry trends, and identify service gaps that create future business opportunities.

The Power of Regional Integration and Collaboration
Description:
This panel will discuss the benefits and hindrances of diverse Caribbean regions in working together as a fully-aligned CARICOM state.  It will explore the recent progress that has made as a result of regional collaboration; as well as current efforts being made in the arenas of international trade and regulation.  The panel will also explore the idea of moving towards a single currency and economic policy within the region.

Description:
This wrap-up panel will address some of the concrete next steps that the Caribbean should take in order to move forward, with an eye towards the prioritization and financial resource allocation. Topics of discussion include crime, debt management, innovation, poverty reduction and education; and the short term sacrifices that the Caribbean will have to make in order to achieve long-term viability. The panel will also address the conflicting interests that exist between parties, and how to align stakeholders to ensure sustainable progress.
